Care Team

Coordinated by a hospitalist, our general medicine experts work collaboratively to bring the right combination of care to each person.

Mountain View Hospital (El Camino Hospital) helped pioneer the "host" approach to managing patient care. In October 1997, it became the first community hospital in the Bay Area to assign patients a dedicated hospital-based doctor. Hospitals around the country followed suit, and we watched proudly as hospital-based medicine became a medical subspecialty in 2007.

All El Camino Health's inpatient services are coordinated through the hospitalist — from specialist referrals to spiritual care and services to help you coordinate care once you leave the hospital. We do this by bringing together a team of disease specialists, pharmacists, physical and occupational therapists, nurse managers, care coordinators and social workers.

Each member of the team is responsible for providing care in their area of expertise and working in concert with other team members. Communication is a key element of good patient care — care that supports sustainable, healthy results.
