El Camino Hospital has implemented a new secure online patient portal called myCare. With myCare, you can access your electronic health record and pay your hospital bill all under one account. Thus, as of December 1, 2015 the existing online payment portal, www.elcaminohospital.org/billpay will be discontinued. El Camino Hospital offers the Simplee service to provide a better understanding of your health benefits and expenses and allow you to manage your health-related accounts in a single place.
Are there any fees or recurring costs to join Simplee?
No. Simplee is a free service for El Camino Hospital patients.
What information do I need to join Simplee?
You’ll need the name and online login information for the health plans you’d like to link to Simplee, including health, dental, prescription or vision plans, as well as healthcare spending accounts.
How does Simplee work?
After you link your accounts, Simplee pulls all the claims and plan information for you daily. The data is presented in a user-friendly dashboard where your claims list can be filtered and customized based on your needs.
How does viewing my healthcare expenses on Simplee differ from just looking at my insurer's website?
Simplee provides several added benefits:
- You can see all the health plans for you and your family in one place, even if family members use different insurance providers.
- Simplee scans all your claims for common billing errors and suggests money-saving tips specific to your expenses.
- If you change insurance providers, you won't lose your data.
- You can pay any medical bill, to any provider, electronically with a few simple clicks.
How long does it take set up an account and link my health accounts?
Creating an account with Simplee is quick and easy. You'll be asked to provide an email address and create a password. Linking your health accounts only takes a few minutes.
Will my employer be able to see my health insurance records?
No. Your employer will never have access to your health insurance records through Simplee.
Does Simplee sell users' information?
Simplee won’t sell or share users' private health or financial information.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Simplee uses the highest industry-standard security measures to make sure your information is safe. These measures include:
- Full compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Encryption of all information.
- Secure hosting facilities in the U.S. for all Simplee servers.
- No sharing of your information.
- No editing or altering of your original insurance records.
Can I access Simplee from any Internet connection?
Yes. Simplee is web based, so it's available from any Internet-connected device.
Do you offer a mobile app?
A mobile app is in development and should be available in the coming months.
What information is shared between my insurance company's website and Simplee?
Simplee will retrieve your claims from your insurance provider’s site, without making any changes to your insurance records. Simplee doesn’t share any information with your insurance company.
I just linked my health insurance account. How long will it take to see my claims?
It can take anywhere from 30 seconds to two minutes for your data to appear on Simplee.
What if I don't have an online account with my insurance?
Visit your insurance provider’s website and follow the directions to set up an account. Once you have an account, return to Simplee and link the new account.
My doctor's office or clinic visits aren’t appearing. Why is this happening?
Most likely, the claim for these services hasn’t been processed by your health plan yet. Or, if you belong to an HMO, claims are processed by your medical group and not your health plan — this is known as a shared risk or capitated arrangement between the health plan and the medical group. You can contact your health plan or doctor's office for more information.
I got an error message when I tried to link my account. What should I do?
Visit your insurance provider’s website to make sure your login information is correct. If your information is correct, please contact Simplee customer service at email@example.com. You'll be contacted within 24 hours of your inquiry.
How does Simplee's bill payment feature work?
There’s no charge to pay your medical bills through Simplee, and it works with any provider. To pay a bill:
- Choose a claim.
- Click "Make Payment."
- Enter your debit or credit card information.
You can also use a health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA) card. Your card statement will show a transaction with Simplee as the merchant and a check will be sent directly to your provider. You'll be able to track the status of the payment on your Simplee account.
