Dr. Eric A. Pifer is a practicing physician who works with patients in our Adult and Senior Health clinics. He was previously the assistant professor of medicine and chief medical information officer at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, an enterprise dedicated to the missions of medical education, biomedical research and quality patient care. Dr. Pifer has received the American Medical Director of Information Systems Award for Excellence and the Alfred E. Stengel Health System Champion Award. He is widely published on the subject of health care informatics, and co-authored Improving Outcomes with Clinical Decision Support, a highly regarded resource for those in the health care industry.

Dr. Pifer believes in an approach to care that emphasizes non-pharmacologic approaches to healthy living such as diet and exercise. This being said, he recognizes the critical importance of some modern medicines and the incredible power of modern diagnostics including genetic testing where needed. He prides himself on providing detailed explanation of disease process and options and empowering his patients to make good choices.
