Aetna Institute of Quality – Orthopedic Care 

Aetna Institute of Quality

The Orthopedic Institute at El Camino Hospital has been re-designated an Aetna Institute of Quality® (IOQ) Orthopedic Care Facility for spine surgery, at both the Mountain View and Los Gatos campuses. Additionally, the Mountain View campus also qualified for the Aetna IOQ for total joint replacement. Designated IOQ facilities demonstrate excellence in clinical quality, value and access for orthopedic care, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Since 2005, the Cardiac & Pulmonary Wellness Center at El Camino Hospital has been consistently recognized by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) for our commitment to enhancing standards of care in the delivery of our cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. Certified AACVPR programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation because they offer the most advanced practices available. AACVPR certification is valid for three years.

Blue Distinction Center® for Knee and Hip Replacement, Spine Surgery and Bariatric Surgery

Blue Distinction Center

Blue Shield of California has designated El Camino Hospital's Mountain View campus as a Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery, Hip and Knee Replacement and Spine Surgery. These designations mean the hospital has demonstrated expertise in delivering quality healthcare.  

Note: Designation as Blue Distinction Centers® means that when last evaluated, these facilities reported overall experience and aggregate data that met quality measure focused on patient safety and outcomes, developed with thoughtful input from the medical community, and met certain cost measures that address consumers' need for affordable healthcare. Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities – Inpatient Rehabilitation and Stroke Program

CARF Accreditation

The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, known as CARF International, awarded the stroke and inpatient rehabilitation center at El Camino Hospital Los Gatos its highest level of accreditation for quality service. The CARF International accreditation demonstrates our quality, transparency and commitment to the satisfaction of our patients.  

National Accreditation with Commendation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons

Commission on Cancer

The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons has granted a three-year Accreditation with Commendation to the Cancer Center at El Camino Hospital. To earn voluntary CoC accreditation, a cancer program must meet or exceed 34 CoC quality care standards, be evaluated every three years through a survey process, and maintain levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive patient-centered care. Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation is only awarded to facilities that exceed standard requirements at the time of a triennial survey.

To achieve this designation from The Joint Commission, El Camino Hospital demonstrated that its Stroke Program meets national standards and guidelines to significantly improve outcomes for stroke, the nation's third leading cause of death. With this designation, El Camino Hospital joins the elite ranks of Primary Stroke Centers across the U.S. 

Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission for Hip and Knee Replacement and Spinal Fusion Surgery – Los Gatos

The Joint Commission's Disease Specific Certification standards address important functions relating to the care of patients and the management of hospitals. The Joint Commission awarded El Camino Hospital’s Los Gatos campus certification in Hip and Knee Replacement, as well as Spinal Fusion Surgery. The certification is a widely recognized benchmark for overall program quality.

El Camino Hospital is the first California hospital to be certified by The Joint Commission in three areas for hip and knee surgery: Hip replacement, Hip Fracture and Knee Replacement. The Joint Commission stated that each of the three programs at El Camino Hospital's Mountain View campus met standards with no areas of deficiency or recommendations necessary, earning it Disease-Specific Care Certification. This means that patient outcomes and satisfaction scores are among the best in the country.

The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association recognize El Camino Hospital for achieving 85 percent or higher adherence to its Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Performance Achievement indicators for consecutive 12-month intervals. El Camino Hospital is also recognized with 75 percent or higher compliance with five of the eight Get with the Guidelines Stroke Quality Measures to improve quality of patient care and outcomes. We also received high marks for rapid delivery of therapy to our stroke patients.

Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program – Accredited Center

Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program

El Camino Hospital's Bariatric Surgery Program is accredited by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, a quality program in conjunction with the American College of Surgeons. To achieve this designation, our program met defined standards of care, documented our outcomes, and participated in periodic reviews and on-site verification to assure high-quality patient care. 

National Recognition for Meritorious Outcomes from the American College of Surgeons

El Camino Hospital in Mountain View is a participant the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP). ACS NSQIP is the first nationally validated, outcomes-based program used to measure and improve the quality of surgical care. El Camino Hospital is one of 44 participating hospitals to have achieved meritorious outcomes for surgical patient care — a testament to our commitment to provide high-quality surgical care while reducing complications and costs.

NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders) "Exemplar" Designation

El Camino Hospital earned Exemplar status — the highest level of implementation — for its NICHE program. NICHE designation indicates a hospital's commitment to excellence in the care of patients 65 and older. Since implementing the NICHE program in 2011, El Camino Hospital has received resources, evidenced-based tools, structure and a collaborative community to stimulate change and support enhanced care for older patients.

Optum™ Centers of Excellence – Bariatric Resource Services

Optum™ Centers of Excellent

Optum™ has recognized El Camino Hospital as a designated member of the Centers of Excellence network in the area of Bariatric Resource Services. To earn this designation, we met or exceeded rigorous performance standards and quality guidelines in bariatric surgery and care. These standards increase the likelihood of superior outcomes and reduced costs.  

Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care – Chest Pain Center

Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care

El Camino Hospital's Chest Pain Center has received full accreditation with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care for its treatment of acute coronary syndrome. The Society's accreditation process insures our center meets or exceeds quality-of-care measures in acute cardiac medicine by applying rigorous national standards.
