Pancreatic Cancer

Last Updated Tuesday, January 14, 2014 10:18:32 AM

More than 40,000 Americans are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every year. Because people who may have pancreatic cancer do not often display symptoms during the early stages, it is typically diagnosed at a very late stage, when it is more challenging to treat. Fortunately, millions of research dollars are going toward pancreatic cancer treatments, and scientists, oncologists, and drug companies all over the world keep looking for new ways to improve outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients.

Our Approach to Pancreatic Cancer

Here at El Camino Hospital’s Mountain View campus, we are known for our aggressive approach to treating pancreatic cancer. We see all new patients right away, whether their cancer is at an advanced or early stage, so that we can begin treating them immediately. Our program was recently accredited by the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer and our oncologists and surgical oncologists are renowned for their passion, resolve, and expertise. The El Camino Hospital Advantage

Our El Camino Hospital Cancer Center is structured to give patients the attention, compassion, and top-notch care they deserve, in an environment that brings together some of the best medical minds in the country. Individual plans are discussed at our weekly tumor board, with each member of the patient’s care team collaborating to arrive at the optimum treatment plan. We also participate in clinical trials to give our patients access to new treatments where appropriate. Learn More

Support Every Step of the Way

For a cancer patient, the love, concern, support and hands-on assistance of family and friends are invaluable. However, there’s a certain kind of understanding that only cancer patients and the people who work with them can provide. We offer a variety of complementary treatments, such as massage, yoga and meditation, from specialists in cancer care. We also host support groups in which patients can compare notes and learn from each other’s experiences. Learn More.

An Exceptional Team

At the Cancer Center, we’ve brought together a team of physicians chosen not only for their superior educational background, specialty training, and proven expertise, but also for their bedside manner. We recruit doctors who understand the toll cancer takes on a patient not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. Referrals to the Cancer Center

We receive many referrals from other Bay Area medical centers and from other regions outside the Bay Area, from Sacramento to Modesto to Gilroy and Monterey. Learn more.
