With a total of 443 licensed beds, both El Camino Hospital campuses are full-service, acute-care community hospitals that offer a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services.
El Camino Hospital is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to improve the health and well being of the community it serves and uses its income to further that mission in exchange for tax exemption.
El Camino Hospital is fully accredited by The Joint Commission, California Department of Health and California Medical Association. Our most recent accreditation survey was March 2010.
The El Camino Hospital District was established in 1956 after voters approved a special tax to be used towards building and operating a hospital.
After four years of planning and construction, the Mountain View hospital opened in 1961.
In 1992 and 1993, El Camino Hospital was named as one of the country's Top 100 Hospitals by HCIA, a healthcare data analysis firm.
Out of more than 120 of its client hospitals nationwide, Professional Resource Consultants, the hospital's patient satisfaction market research firm, named El Camino Hospital as its number one hospital in 2000 for the quality of inpatient nursing care.
In 2004 El Camino Hospital was named one of the nation's top performance improvement leader hospitals by Solucient, a leading provider of strategic business and clinical information for the health care industry.
El Camino Hospital was the sole recipient of the President's Award for Customer Satisfaction from among 300 hospitals nationwide participating in the Professional Research Consultants survey, and the first hospital in the company's history to have scored high enough to earn the President's Award.
We have been named one of the country's "Most Wired" hospitals, for five consecutive years. This benchmarking study is conducted by Hospital and Health Networks magazine.
