Women's Philanthropy

Last Updated 12/4/2014 10:52:50 AM

Hope to Health (H2H) offers a volunteer and philanthropic opportunity for women to support El Camino Hospital. There are two chapters, one in Mountain View and one in Los Gatos. Members are women who care about women’s health issues and believe in the power of philanthropy. They meet regularly to discuss those concerns and determine how their charitable giving can best improve the health of women in their communities through programs on their chapter’s hospital campus. To date the dollars they have raise have helped, among other things, to launch MOMS (an outpatient therapy program for women suffering from postpartum depression), ASPIRE (an outpatient therapy program aimed at preventing teen suicide), underwrite gynecological services for underprivileged women, and to support pilot programs to improve women’s cardiovascular health. For more information, please contact Kirsten Krimsley at 650-940-7154 or email foundation@elcaminohospital.org.

Norma's Literary Luncheon

Last Updated Monday, March 09, 2015 11:40:08 AM

Author and screenwriter Delia Ephron was the featured speaker at the 3rd annual Norma’s Literary Luncheon on February 5, 2015. One hundred eighty guests attended the memorial tribute to longtime El Camino Hospital benefactor Norma Melchor and contributed more than $75,000 to support women’s mental health services. Ephron’s touching and humorous account of growing up in a chaotic household underscored the importance of expanding programs to provide psychological healing for more women and a better future for their children. The event was underwritten by a gift from Norma’s husband Jack Melchor and organized by chairs Judie Wolken and Betsy Dawes. Planning is already underway for the 4th annual literary luncheon, which will be held on February 4, 2016 at Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club. MIreille Guiliano, author of French Women Don’t Get Facelifts, will be the featured speaker.
