Our maternity orientation is designed to help you and your family members become familiar with El Camino Hospital's Maternal Child Health Center and what you will encounter during your stay. Our multimedia presentation will cover many areas and aspects of your journey to having your baby at El Camino Hospital.

Group orientations are held once a month and last one hour. Extended families are invited and children are welcome. If a young child should become restless and disruptive to others we ask that the child be escorted out of the room. Many families find it easier to make child care arrangements for younger children.

In addition to attending our maternity orientation we recommend that expecting parents take our Childbirth Preparation class. This series of classes is designed to prepare couples for childbirth. Instruction in Lamaze including relaxation, breathing techniques, stages of labor, and the birth process are covered in the Childbirth Preparation class.

This class is recommended for both parents. Pre-registration is required. Drop-ins will not be admitted.
