Making Admissions Easy

Within your last few months of pregnancy, your physician will give you a pre-admission package from El Camino Hospital containing certain forms to be returned to the hospital at least one month prior to your due date. Your information will be processed, your insurance verified, and arrangements will be made for you to enter the hospital. We will let you know by return postcard that your admission process is complete. This will make admission into the hospital an easy experience for you.

Register ahead of time. You will receive your patient registration information from your care provider in advance of your due date. Don’t wait until you come to the hospital in labor to submit this to us. You can mail it to us or visit the registration office at the hospital in advance.

Labor and Delivery Department Hours and Location
The Labor and Delivery department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Patients in labor may enter by either the main entrance of the Women's Hospital (Orchard Pavilion) between 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or use the after hours entrance 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

The after hours entrance is located on the right hand side of the building, when facing the main entrance of the Women's Hospital, and across from the Old Main Hospital. Download the hospital entrances map below for specific location information.

Birth Certificates

Births in Santa Clara County are officially recorded by the Public Health Department. You can get copies of birth certificates from the Vital Records department. The Vital Records department provides birth certificates for the current and one previous year only. Older certificates are available from the Santa Clara County Clerk-Recorder or call 408-299-2481.

El Camino Hospital does not keep or maintain birth certificates.
