The Women's Hospital at Los Gatos offers a variety of classes to help you and your family prepare for your baby's arrival. You may choose from a full range of classes, from childbirth preparation to baby's first six months.

Los Gatos Class Descriptions and Fees
Baby Care Classes
Instructors discuss bathing, feeding, diapering, layette, crying/sleeping patterns and other baby care topics. $45/couple
Breastfeeding Preparation Classes
This class, suggested for couples planning to breastfeed, provides an introduction to breastfeeding and an overview of common challenges parents may encounter in the early weeks. $45/couple
Breastfeeding Support Group
In this drop-in support group for mothers and babies, participants meet other breastfeeding mothers, ask questions and receive support from the Maternal Network Center staff. Group meets Tuesdays, 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm (except holidays). Free
This series of classes is designed to prepare couples for childbirth. Instruction includes relaxation, breathing techniques, stages of labor, and the birth process. A guest pediatrician speaker will be included in your class. We suggest you plan to complete the program about 3-4 weeks before your delivery. Price: $145 per couple. (A tour of El Camino Hospital Los Gatos is not included. Please call to schedule a free tour separately).
This one day class offers the same class material provided during the three week session excluding the Pediatrician guest speaker. Price: $145 per couple. (A tour of El Camino Hospital Los Gatos is not included. Please call to schedule a free tour separately).
Drop-In Lactation Consultation
A Board Certified Lactation Consultant is available in a group setting for quick assessment of urgent concerns related to latch on technique, effective feeding, and breast/nipple problems. A baby weigh scale is available to check your baby's weight, or to do a weigh-feed-weigh. Meets on Wednesdays, 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm (except holidays). Free
Certified instructors teach techniques to save the life of an infant or child by recognizing unconsciousness, respiratory arrest, cardiac arrest and choking; performing effective CPR; and correctly activating the Emergency Medical Services (911) system. Participants practice techniques on manikins. This class is recommended for parents, grandparents and child care providers. $50/person or $75 per couple
Journey to Family Maternity Tour
As your due date approaches, you'll want to acquaint yourself with both the place and the particulars of your upcoming birth experience. This program includes a guided tour of our Women's Hospital, which includes Labor & Delivery, Well Baby Nursery, and the Mother/Baby Wing. There will also be a question and answer session with our professional staff as well as a presentation discussing what to expect from admission to discharge. New Mothers Network
This drop-in support group addresses a variety of newborn topics including postpartum adjustment, and newborn care and development. Questions and concerns are addressed by an experienced Maternal Network staff member. Group meets Thursdays, 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm (except holidays). Free
Children ages three to eight years prepare for the birth of a sibling by learning about newborns and safety issues, and by discussing their feelings. The class includes role play with dolls and a tour of the El Camino Hospital nursery. (At least one parent is required to attend.) $35 for one child - $50 for two or more children
