Types of intracorporeal Lithotripsy

• Holmium Laser Lithotripsy, a laser powered device
• Pneumatic Lithoclast Lithotripsy, an air pressured device

Your urologist may use a Laser or Pneumatic Lithoclast Lithotripter with the following procedures:

Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy - the fragmentation and removal of stones in the kidney through an access port placed into the kidney through the skin in the back.

Ureteroscopic Lithotripsy - the framentation and removal of stones in the ureter and kidney with the use of an optical device, the ureteroscope.

Cystolitholipaxy - the fragmentation and removal of large stones in the bladder.
