ESWL and the related procedures are performed under anesthesia. A member of the Hospital Department of Anesthesia will visit with you before surgery and explain the different anesthesia techniques suited to your needs. He or she will assist you in choosing the type of anesthesia.

When you feel comfortable about the procedure and the anticipated results, you will be asked to sign documents of permission for treatment and anesthesia.
