El Camino Hospital Rehabilitation department offers massage therapy to in-patients, radiation oncology patients and maternity patients. Massages therapy is administered by experienced, caring health professionals specially trained in hospital massage therapy.

Massage Therapy for In-Patients

Approval from your physician is required prior to scheduling a massage and your nurse or massage therapist can contact your physician for approval. Once your physician has approved, massages may be requested at any time during your hospital stay. Massage is provided for 30 minutes in the patient's room (as shown below).



Fee: $30 per visit | Payable by check, VISA, MasterCard or cash.

Massage Therapy for Radiation Oncology Patients

El Camino Hospital, Radiation Oncology department in partnership with the Rehabilitation department also offer patients in radiation therapy clothed, seated, chair massages. These massages are provided by experienced, caring health professionals.

Using a massage chair, the patient is seated and rests in a forward direction, leaning into a chest and face support. The massage therapist focuses primarily on the neck, shoulders, head, arms, hands and back of the patient (as shown below).


Please contact the Radiation Oncology department receptionist at 650-940-7280 for fee and schedule information. With your physician's approval, you may request this service at any time during your radiation treatment. Your first massage is complimentary. Funds for this program are donated by the El Camino Hospital Foundation.

Massage Therapy for Maternity Patients

Maternal Child Health services in partnership with the Rehabilitation department also offers our maternity patients, in Orchard Pavilion, the benefits of massage therapy. Massages may be requested at any time during your hospital stay. Massage is provided for 30 minutes in the patient's room.
