Neuroscience Institute

The Neuroscience Institute at El Camino Hospital is comprised of a number of specialist physicians including neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuro-otologists, physiatrists, neuro-oncologists, radiation-oncologists and pain management specialists who provide comprehensive care for patients with diseases affecting the brain, spine and peripheral nerves.

Within the Neuroscience Institute there are specialty programs in stroke, stereotactic radiosurgery, skull base surgery including the treatment of acoustic neuromas and pituitary tumors, minimally invasive spine surgery and disorders affecting balance including ataxia.

In addition to the treatment of brain and spine tumors with surgery and traditional radiation therapy, a select number of Neuroscience Institute specialists work closely with radiation oncologists who have special training in stereotactic radiosurgery which utilizes a highly specialized radiation therapy device that uses image-guidance technology to precisely deliver radiation to a tumor while sparing the surrounding normal tissue. El Camino Hospital is one of only a few hospitals in the Bay Area that has this unique ability.
