Immunization Program

Last Updated Wednesday, March 04, 2009 2:24:11 PM

The El Camino Hospital Immunization Program was created in 1996 to address the growing need for free immunization services to residents in north Santa Clara County. Uninsured and underserved patients lacked the ability to access immunization services within their own community. As a result, the El Camino Hospital Immunization Program was established as a mobile service to bring immunizations directly to the patients. This service is an overwhelming success with over 12,000 immunizations, flu shots and tuberculosis screenings provided to at-risk members of our community.

The program has been of service to local schools, senior and community centers, free clinics, senior mobile home parks, homeless shelters, children's day care centers and community kitchens and other oganizations.

In the fall of 2001, Wally Koala became a member of the El Camino Hospital immunization program team. With materials funded by a grant from Peninsula Community Foundation, Wally Koala was designed to help parents remember the important immunizations that protect their children from serious disease, and to help children approach immunizations with reassurance.

This program is funded by charitable donations. Your support will have a direct impact on the health of our community. If you are interested in making a donation, please contact the El Camino Hospital Foundation at 650-940-7154.
