Last Updated Tuesday, March 03, 2009 2:56:42 PM

Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are complex illnesses which seriously affect an individual’s physical and mental health. Until an eating disorder is under control, it is very difficult for a person to function effectively. We can help.

About our program

El Camino Hospital’s Intensive Eating Disorders Treatment Program is a day treatment/intensive outpatient program designed to help women and men over-come anorexia or bulimia. Treatment is divided into three stages.

Stage 1: Focus of treatment in Stage 1 is on eliminating eating-disordered behaviors and re-establishing more normal eating habits.

Stage 2: Treatment shifts toward core issues of self-esteem and personal identity,

Stage 3: The focus is on relapse prevention and discharge planning. An individualized discharge plan helps the client return to normal activities and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

NEW: Evening program

El Camino Hospital now offers an evening intensive outpatient program for eating disorders. the program meets Monday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Treatment is divided into three stages:

  • Stage 1 focuses on eliminating eating disordered behaviors and re-establishing more normal eating habits.
