Dr. Zaré grew up in Iran and received his graduate medical education from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India, before moving to the U.S. in 1996.
Dr. Zaré completed his general surgery internship and residency at Georgetown University, where he was a chief resident. He received additional two years of sub-specialty training in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He was an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Boston University and the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery at the VA Boston Healthcare System before moving to California in 2008. In 2011, his practice was certified as a Bariatric Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
