Our emergency departments have collected statistics on patient wait times for many years. This theme represents an increased focus on this work and an expansion to other areas of the hospital.

It was reported in the National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey: 2007 Emergency Department Summary that the median waiting time to see a physician was 33 minutes.
In the 2011/2012 fiscal year (July 2011-June 2012), El Camino Hospital had 54,508 visits to our emergency departments.
