The diagnosis of a disease can present challenges in your daily life that are hard to face alone. Attendance at a support group can provide you with hope and encouragement. Learn how to minimize the impact of stress and improve your physical and emotional health. Research has shown, for example, that being in a support group while undergoing cancer treatment can increase the chances of a positive outcome.
Our groups offer you the opportunity to ask questions, tell your story or just listen to how others in the group have solved their problems. Most groups also have an educational component and may feature guest speakers on topics relevant to the members' interests. Family members and friends are usually welcome.
Our support groups are free of charge and most require no preregistration. Call 800-216-5556 or visit the calendar for locations and dates. Below is a list of support groups that meet at El Camino Hospital.
