The Medtronic CoreValve® U.S. Pivotal Trial offers an approach to heart valve surgery that enables surgeons to replace damaged heart valves by going through a small incision in the skin rather than opening the chest to replace the valve. Heart valve replacement is made necessary when aortic stenosis occurs, a condition that occurs due to narrowing of the aortic valve. This video presents the new CoreValve® System approach to heart valve surgery and covers the following topics: the definition of aortic stenosis along with symptoms and treatments, which people are good candidates for this approach and what we are learning from the ongoing studies.
