Service Summary

The volunteer creates special handicraft items which are provided free of charge for babies and certain kinds of adult hospital patients.

Key Qualifications

  • Know how to sew, knit or crochet.
  • Hooks and Needles volunteers pick up yarn from the Escort office yarn room, and drop off their completed items. People who are not members of the Auxiliary must buy their own yarn.

Job Description
Pinkies: You will make small comfort pillows for patients and Christmas stockings for newborn infants. You will work as part of a team to create and assemble the items; the tasks may include any or all of the following: buy and cut material; sew and stuff pillows; and sew Christmas stockings.

Hooks and Needles: Your responsibility is to knit or crochet special handicraft items for babies and certain adult hospital patients. In particular, you would create the following kinds of items: baby hats for newborn infants, hats for adult cancer patients; and caps, shawls or lap robes for patients in Radiation Oncology.
