The volunteer assists the hospital staff by fulfilling many, widely varying-priority errands all over the hospital during each shift. The volunteer also gives non-medical assistance to discharged patients, taking them in wheelchairs to the curb in front of the hospital.

 

 

Escort: When serving in this capacity, you would fulfill a wide variety of tasks for patients and hospital staff, such as taking discharged patients in wheelchairs from the nursing unit to the curb in front of the hospital; delivering sealed specimens from a nursing unit to the laboratory; transporting films and CDs from Radiology to different departments; delivering patient belongings to their assigned floor; answering phones; delivering EKGs and charts; delivering time-sensitive mail and complimentary newspapers; and performing numerous similar tasks.
