Marianne Favro from NBC Bay Area reports about California State Legislature SB1538, a bill passed into law, that will help educate women with dense breast tissue about their increased risks for cancer. The bill requires that following a mammogram, women with dense breast tissue will be informed that they have dense breast tissue, that dense breast tissue can obscure cancer on a mammogram and that they may want to discuss additional screening options with their physician. The law goes into effect April 1, 2013.
