"I was basically told nothing there was nothing they could do for me, it was way too dangerous to operate on it, and I could essentially either lose my leg or die on the operating table and no physician, no surgeon would ever touch it," said Katherine Lane. Fortunately, she found a doctor at El Camino Hospital who would try to operate on it--and succeed with an innovative new approach.
