Partnership is model for patient experience and satisfaction, meeting patient health care financial needs long after hospital visit
Palo Alto, CA, October 1, 2012 - Health care expense management company Simplee and El Camino Hospital, an award winning and innovative locally-owned and controlled District hospital serving Silicon Valley with campuses in Mountain View and Los Gatos, today announced that they have partnered to launch the nation’s first completely integrated medical bill and explanation of benefits (EOB) reconciliation system.
As part of this agreement, Simplee will instantly match a patient's El Camino Hospital bill with their insurer EOB to resolve charges, explain claims, scan for possible claim errors, and pay bills online. This reconciliation system eliminates the need to compare physical statements from multiple providers and insurers over an extended period of time in order to determine final medical benefits and charges. Simplee is also offering an online bill pay option for patients who choose to pay their hospital bills online and not sign-up for the full Simplee service.

El Camino Hospital will encourage its patients to use Simplee to better manage their financial health plan benefits and bills. At multiple points from check in through discharge, patients will receive information about Simplee and provided with an opportunity to sign up for the service. Financial services representatives will continue to be available for patients to help them enroll in the service and to help them answer questions about their bills.

In addition to plain language benefits and claims explanations, members receive medical support notifications from Simplee that highlight medical deductible usage, historical spend for open enrollment decisions, and alerts for medical billing errors.
Since its launch in 2011, Simplee has helped members manage nearly half a billion dollars in medical expenses across hundreds of thousands of medical providers. These members are highly engaged, with more than 65% returning to the platform on a regular basis. Those members using Simplee's online bill payment solution pay an average of more than $1000 per year in medical claims through the platform.
