This eight session program is designed to teach mind and body awareness techniques to help live with physical or psychological symptoms due to daily stress and stress-related illnesses. It is based on the methods of Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., at the University of Massachusetts Stress Reduction Program featured on the Bill Moyers' special, "Healing and the Mind."
Mindfulness is the practice of cultivating non-judgmental awareness in day-to-day life. Mindfulness develops the potential to experience each moment, no matter how difficult or intense, with serenity and clarity. One can feel more alive and joyful and gain immediate access to powerful inner resources for healing and stress management.
Classes meet for eight sessions, once a week, including one, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday class. Visit the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Programs web site for a complete schedule with all the class meeting dates and more information.
Fee: $350 (includes all materials). Partial scholarships available for those with financial limitations.
